FF5 Update 2003/05/22

Hi,

I have some information I'd like to pass on to everyone who is planning on attending this year's FirehawkFest. The hotel and dinner are both set for this year's FirehawkFest. We are using the same host hotel we used before and the same restaurant we used in 2000 and 2001.

On Friday evening we will be having a cocktail reception in the lounge at the Hallmark Suites during their "Manager's Reception". The hours will be from 5 to 7PM. It will be great gathering for all to get re-acquainted with each other and to meet some new faces as well and unwind a bit after your trip. The reception is open to all, but those who are registered guests at the Hallmark get to drink for free.

Saturday will be the car show. It will be held at Reliable Pontiac in the Roseville (CA) Automall. I will have judges there and trophies will be awarded. All Firehawks will be judged on their own merits, so that a bone stock Firehawk can compete with a heavily modified Firehawk on a level playing field. The car show is scheduled to begin at 10AM with the judging to start around 11AM. All times for the car show are tentative right now. A lunch will be served for car show participants. There will be small charge for lunch to cover the costs involved.

The dinner at Cattlemens Restaurant will begin at 7PM on Saturday evening following the cash bar that will be open at 6:30PM. We are still trying to book a guest speaker at this time, but the dinner is still scheduled to happen regardless of whether we get a guest speaker or not. Keep checking the Firehawk.org website for more details as they happen.

On Sunday we are going to drive up to Lake Tahoe from the Hallmark Suites. We will drive to either Harrah's or Caesar's Palace and then have a few hours to ourselves to either gamble, sightsee or gorge ourselves on one of the buffets there. At a preset time we will re-group and then head back down to the Hallmark Suites. Make sure you bring your "walkie-talkie" radios with as they make the trip a lot more fun.

Our host hotel is once again The Hallmark Suites. They are located at 11260 Point East Dr, Rancho Cordova, CA 95742. Their toll free number is 1-800-444-1089 and their web site is: www.hallmarksuites.com

They feature: seperate living room and bedroom, two televisions, CD player, data ports, 3 phones, microwave and a refrigerator. They also have an exercise room featuring Stairmasters, treadmill, and exercise bikes. A pool and spa are also available. You can also enjoy their free cooked-to-order breakfast in the mornings and choose from omelets, eggs cooked-to-order, bacon, sausage, french toast, pancakes, fruit, bagels and a choice of beverage. In the evenings they offer a full bar reception with beer, micro-brews, wine and mixed drinks.

The rate for a King Suite is $89.00 per room and includes all the above mentioned amenities. They are also offering an exclusive parking area just for the Firehawks as they have in the past, as well as an area for us to wash our cars. They will supply the hose and the water and I will see to it that we have a few wash buckets and some free samples of Eagle One car wash on hand if anyone needs it.

Make sure that you mention FIREHAWK ASSOCIATION to get this rate and make sure you check their cancellation policy when booking your room as well, just in case your plans change at the last minute. These rates are good for Friday, Saturday and Sunday night if you wish to stay over before heading home. That would be September 26, 27 and 28.

Now, for the dinner plans:

Cattlemens Restaurant will again host our dinner on Saturday night, September 27, 2003. We are having a cash bar at 6:30 with dinner starting at 7PM. Our dinner choices are:

COWBOY STEAK
A hearty 20oz ribeye with mouth-watering bone-in-flavor.

NEW YORK STEAK
A generous 14oz cut of perfectly aged NY Steak broiled to order

BABY BACK PORK RIBS
A full rack of our tender baby back pork ribs slow roasted in a sweet BBQ sauce

SAUTEED SHRIMP SCAMPI
10 Jumbo shrimp sauteed scampi style

All of the above dinners include baked potato, all-you-can-eat salad, sourdough bread, ranch style beans and coffee or tea.

All dinners are priced at $27.00 per person and must be paid for no later than September 5, 2003. This price includes all taxes and gratuities. You can mail your check or money order to me for your dinner. Please make the check payable to me. I am solely responsible for paying the dinner bill. There will be cash bar for you to purchase your own drinks if you want them. Please specify your dinner choices on a seperate piece of paper or use the form on your copy of Hawk Talk; the official newsletter of the Firehawk Association of America. Please make sure that your name is on it as well and send that back to me with your payment. NO CASH!

Send it to:

The deadlines for the hotel and the dinner are the same. You must have your hotel room reserved by September 5th and I must have your money in my hands by that date to order the dinners for you. I will not order any dinners without payment in hand, so please get your checks in early. I will not deposit any checks until September 1st and you can request a refund from me for the dinners up until the 5th of September. After Septmeber 5th, there will be no refunds made.

If you have any questions please contact me and I will do my best to clarify anything that is vague or that I have omitted. Watch for more updates in the FAOA newsletters and on the www.firehawk.org web site.
